Laokratis Koranis, Member of the Hungarian Parliament representing the Greek minority, spoke about his personal story, the local Greek community, and the Orbán government’s policies on minorities and demographics, in an interview on Voice of Greece, on the program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.
However, Mr. Koranis also voiced his disappointment at the lack of response from the Greek State to the request for funding a chair in Modern Greek Studies at a Hungarian university—something the Hungarian government agreed to cover for the current academic year. Other countries, such as Serbia and Bulgaria, he noted, fund university chairs for their own languages in Hungary.
