Marine insurance broker and founder of Searock Marine Insurance Brokers, Maria Mavroudi, originally from Astypalaia, takes the helm on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece.
“I cannot imagine my life without the sea, nor can I function away from it. It is my second nature. My father was a marine engineer, and from an early stage I understood the opportunities this field offers. It is a sector that constantly evolves—with new developments, innovations, regulations, and conditions—but it also carries both risk and allure,” she notes, speaking about the sea, shipping, and marine insurance.
She also explains the current situation regarding insurance in the war-affected region of the Persian Gulf: can a vessel effectively remain uninsured today in the Strait of Hormuz? Who ultimately bears the cost, and what does war risk insurance actually cover?
