Manolis Koutoulakis, Secretary General for the Aegean and Island Policy, spoke on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece about the high-level meeting on the EU Strategy for the Maritime Industry and Ports, which took place in Athens last Thursday.
He spoke about the impact of the conference and highlighted key moments from the speeches and presentations, noting that “Greece, as a global maritime power, closely follows developments, EU programs and funding initiatives, such as the implementation of the European strategy for maritime transport and ports, programs for new forms of energy, next-generation vessels, and more.”
The event was held at the Eugenides Foundation and brought together leading representatives of European and Greek political leadership, the maritime industry and the technology sector.
The meeting focused on key pillars of the European strategy for shipping and ports, including:
• The implementation of the EU Industrial Maritime Strategy and the Ports Strategy
• Short-sea shipping, passenger vessels and island connectivity
• Strengthening European shipbuilding and technological leadership
• The role of the maritime technology sector
• Port ecosystems and sustainability
• Skills, education and the creation of quality jobs
