On Sunday, 23 July 2023, the radio show “Our Town” aired a special tribute to Mikis Theodorakis. His children, Margarita and Giorgos, were guests in the studio.
The program featured many remarkable stories—some of them shared publicly for the first time.
Margarita Theodorakis spoke about her book “Memories of a Girl”, reflected on the family’s deep connection to their ancestral roots, and recalled the experience of watching a song take shape “step by step” in her father’s hands. She also spoke about the composer’s meetings with great personalities from around the world and his resistance activities during the military dictatorship.
The show also touched on Mikis Theodorakis’ political engagement and his generous spirit of forgiveness—even toward those who had wronged him. Stories from the family’s time in Paris were shared, including their love for cinema and frequent visits to movie theatres. Beloved songs from across Theodorakis’ career were also featured.
