“Philosophical Theatre” – The New Book by Th. Pelegrinis on “Take Your Time” | 26 Mar. 2026

The program “Take Your Time”, hosted by Prokopis Angelopoulos, welcomed Theodosios Pelegrinis—Professor, former Rector of the University of Athens, author, and actor—on the occasion of his new book “Philosophical Theatre”, published by Kostarakis Editions.

Unlike “philosophized theatre,” which merely reflects the philosophical thinking of the playwright, philosophical theatre constitutes a distinct genre, where two major domains of culture—philosophy and theatre—meet on stage through their shared foundation in dialogue.

In his book, Theodosios Pelegrinis explores how both theatre and philosophy were born, how they evolved, how they were at times silenced, how they re-emerged, and how they might ultimately converge to form a new kind of theatrical expression: philosophical theatre.

The book is divided into two parts. The first traces the parallel journey of philosophy and theatre from their emergence to the present day, while the second includes four theatrical works.
