On the Friday broadcast of October 17, 2025, we were informed about the upcoming changes in the publication of wills and inheritance procedures, through new initiatives involving the operation of a digital platform managed by notaries. We discussed the topic with Mr. Giorgos Rouskas, former President of the Council of European Notaries and former President of the Notary Association of Greece. ERT director Kostas Machairas spoke to us from faraway Australia, where his film “The Enigma of Keros” is being screened at the Greek Film Festival of Australia. He shared his thoughts on the festival and his impressions from connecting with the Greek community there. After reviewing the morning headlines, we turned to developments in the Middle East. We discussed the ceasefire in Gaza with Voice of Greece analyst Walid Elias. In the second hour, we hosted in the studio Ms. Nantina Tsekeri, human rights lawyer and director of Defence for Children International Greece. On the occasion of the organization’s upcoming conference, taking place at the Intercontinental Athens on October 23 and 24, under the title “Bridging Child Protection and Child Justice Systems – Toward a Child-Centered Approach”, we explored the aims of the event. In parallel, on Thursday, October 23, a special cultural event will take place at the Bellos Theater, as part of the innovative program “Justice Starts with Us – Justice Transformers”, implemented in recent years by DCI Greece in collaboration with the CFJ European Network, of which Ms. Tsekeri is Vice President. This year, under the artistic direction of director Aikaterini Papageorgiou, young people who have had contact with the justice system as minors transform into Justice Transformers, presenting an original theatrical intervention that expresses their personal experiences and voices. The text is curated and adapted by Christos Tsoukalas. With Ms. Tsekeri, we also discussed the important issue of how civil society, local government, and schools handle children involved in delinquent behavior.
Later in the show, the focus shifted to cinema. We spoke with director and screenwriter Maria Douza about her film “Listen”, currently available on Ertflix and Ertflix International. We also discussed the initiative “Cinema in Greece – Visibility Zero”, launched by film professionals in Greece to highlight the issue of low funding for the country’s film industry. Before the end of the program, we “traveled” to Chania to learn about the program of the 13th Chania Film Festival, with insights from its director Matthaios Frantzeskakis. The festival opened on Wednesday, October 15, and will run until October 26. Among the many screenings, masterclasses, and workshops for adults and children, there will also be parallel events honoring notable figures such as Emir Kusturica, Pantelis Voulgaris, Lefteris Charonitis, Thodoris Papadoulakis, and the Swiss philhellene dentist of the leprosy community, Julien Grivel.
