On Friday’s edition of the program, 23 January 2026, we spoke with Mr Panagiotis Petrakis, Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Athens, seeking to understand the developments in the economic standoff that has emerged between the United States and the European Union, against a backdrop of broader geostrategic considerations.
We then reviewed the online and newspaper front pages, and the first hour concluded with Ivana Djordjevic presenting the international news.
In the second hour, we focused on the decision of the European Parliament to freeze the Mercosur agreement by referring it to the European Court of Justice, following an initiative by the Left group. We discussed this development with SYRIZA Member of the European Parliament Kostas Arvanitis, who was among those leading the initiative by Left-wing MEPs.
Immediately afterwards, Themis Kallos, Director of the Greek Service of Australia’s public broadcaster SBS Radio, brought us the latest news concerning Greek diaspora communities from the distant continent.
Before closing with the sports news, presented by Michalis Ladopoulos, we connected live with Ano Glyfada, where Dimitris Theodosopoulos, Surveyor Engineer and expert on issues relating to Attica’s streams, explained what happened in Ano Glyfada on the night of the major flood and outlined the interventions required to provide genuine flood protection for areas currently at high risk.
