On Tuesday, 07 October 2025, Voice of Greece took listeners on a journey to Mount Olympus, the mountain of the ancient gods.
With the help of Vangelis Mitrousias, ERT correspondent in Thessaly; Triantafyllos Bitos, forester and Head of Management of the Olympus National Park; Apostolos Tsolakidis, General Secretary of the Hellenic Mountaineering Club of Katerini and professional mountain guide; and Maria Zolota, manager of the Spilios Agapitos mountain refuge, we learned fascinating facts about the mountain’s flora and fauna, its unique landscapes, hiking trails, mountain refuges, and the routes leading to its legendary peaks.
They also spoke about the challenges and dangers of this majestic mountain, which rises proudly above Litochoro and the Pieria coastline, welcoming every year hundreds of thousands of visitors of all ages from dozens of countries around the world.
