In the program, the distinguished professor of AUTH, Mr. Aristotelis Naniopoulos, was hosted via telephone. He spoke about education in the town of New Skopos in Eastern Thrace, the shocking events that led to the refugees in the area, the establishment of New Skopos in Serres, and the significant history of the elementary school. This radio conversation was prompted by the donation from the esteemed Greek-American expatriate from Skopos, Emanuel Efstathios Savas (E.S. (Steve) or simply “Savas”), which was for the new school library (photo) at the historic elementary school of New Skopos. Mr. Naniopoulos also referred to the journey of the Greek-American Mr. Savvopoulos, as well as the contributions of the expatriates from Skopos to their homeland.
