Nia Karteris: Few Opportunities for Greeks in Australia to see Greek films in theaters | 22 Nov. 2024

Nia Karteris, President of the Greek Film Festival in Sydney and Vice President of the Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales, spoke about the relationship between the Greek Diaspora community in Australia and Greek cinema, on the show “Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos.

She discussed her personal connection to Greek cinema and her passion, which has driven her for the past 30 years to be the heart of the festival, helping the Greek diaspora connect with contemporary films by Greek creators. They also talked about the relationship Australians have with Greek films and the fact that there are few opportunities for viewers in Australia to watch new Greek films in theaters. Additionally, they discussed her current meetings in Athens, in preparation for the program of the Greek Festival, organized every year for three months by the Greek Orthodox Community, as well as the 2025 Greek Film Festival.
