Nikolas Dovas, a Greek expatriate entrepreneur who has lived in Ecuador for over a decade, joined “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis on Voice of Greece to talk about the book “The Origins of Reason & the Forging of AI”, which he co-authored with his brother Vassilis.
The book explores the deep connection between logos (reason) in ancient Greek civilization and modern artificial intelligence (AI). During the interview, Mr. Dovas also shared his thoughts on the outcome of Ecuador’s presidential elections, held just yesterday.
He emphasized that in Greek culture, reason was the key to the pursuit of truth—a principle that also underpins the development of AI today. “Reason,” he noted, “is like software. Without it, there’s inaction and emptiness.” In this light, AI without logos—without the intellectual heritage of ancient Greece—is essentially hollow.
The authors even asked several AI models, including ChatGPT and DeepSeek, to assess the value of reason in relation to humanity’s greatest achievements over the past 200 years. The estimated contribution? Between 60 and 80 trillion dollars, with the models concluding that without reason, human progress would have either stalled—or gone terribly wrong.
The book is available on Amazon, and Mr. Dovas has already been invited by schools in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, to speak about various chapters of the book.
