Actor and author Stelios Mainas speaks on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” about his new book Arodou (At Anchorage), which he presented on the evening of Wednesday, 22 October, at the Historical Library of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation in Piraeus — a place that beats with the heart of every seafarer and of Greek shipping itself.

In our conversation, he speaks about Greek seafarers — to whom, as he says, “we owe so much, and a heartfelt thank you. I am the son of a captain and have many relatives who are sailors. My roots are in Syros and Antiparos. I hold many memories from my childhood and teenage years there, and I felt the need to write this book for those people of the sea and of shipping.”
Among other things, Stelios Mainas adds: “The odyssey of the seafarer fascinates me — their adventure as they search for their own personal Ithaca on an endless voyage.”
