Maria Bakou, Deputy Secretary of the Munich and Surrounding Areas Parents’ Association, was a guest on Take Your Time with Prokopis Agelopoulos on Friday, 14 February 2025, discussing the sit-in protest organized by the Munich Parents’ Association at the Greek Consulate General in Munich, demanding a resolution to the school building issue affecting Greek schools.
Since yesterday afternoon, the Munich Parents’ Association, along with many parents from Greek schools, has staged a sit-in at the Greek Consulate General in Munich. This protest followed a meeting between the association’s board, Greece’s new Ambassador to Germany, Mr. Papaiōannou, and the Greek Consul General in Munich, Mr. Kodellas. The main topic of discussion was the school building problem in Freimann. Parents have remained at the site throughout the night and are determined not to leave until a definitive solution is signed to secure proper housing for Greek schools.
The association also condemns the Greek government’s delay in finalizing a lease agreement for a new school building and demands an immediate solution to ensure uninterrupted schooling in appropriate educational facilities by September.
