In Wednesday’s episode, March 20th, 2024, after commenting on the Current Affairs and reading the newspapers, we spoke by phone with the Regional Governor of Thessaly, Dimitris Kouretas, about the effort to restore normality in Thessaly and anti-flood shielding, based on the Dutch plan but also the proposals of the Regional Administration. The main axis of the conversation was the restructuring of crops and the need, according to Mr. Kouretas, to keep growing cotton and to connect it with the industry, so that the added value of the produced product stays in our country. Before 11am, we were connected by phone Vassilis Voulgaris in Germany. Mr Voulgaris is the Greek editor of the Europolitis newspaper. He commented on the Greek Current Affairs, with the main issue being the issue of Tempe accident and the Postal Vote, as well as, as he said, the interest in participating in the European elections of emigrants is not as big as one would expect, after its institutionalization.
In the second hour, we were informed about a very interesting program of the Hellenic Agency for Local Development (EETAA) and Local Government about raising awareness and empowering Roma women. Part of this project is a one day seminar organized at the Agency’s offices, in Metaxourgio, at noon on Thursday, March 21st. Roma women from areas of Attica who live will meet with other women and negotiate about women’s rights and the need for equal opportunities. Mrs Elli Christoula, scientific advisor of EETAA and scientific manager of the project, spoke about it. In the last half hour, we spent time celebrating World Oral Hygiene Day by talking to Mr Konstantinos Kougias, president of the Dental Association of Thessaloniki, about Greeks’ oral hygiene. We spoke about the need to increase the percentage of coverage of this care by the NHS.
