On Sunday, 14 June 2026, “Our Town” welcomed Kostas Thomaidis. Known for his discerning choice of repertoire, his lyrical yet understated vocal style, and his work as a beloved radio producer, Thomaidis spoke about his years in Thessaloniki, the important encounters that shaped his artistic journey, and, above all, his relationships with Thanos Mikroutsikos, Manos Hadjidakis, Yannis Ritsos, and Mikis Theodorakis. He also made special mention of his lifelong friendship with Tania Tsanaklidou.
The program traced the major milestones of Thomaidis’ career and discography. It explored the path of a performer who earned critical acclaim in French-speaking countries for his interpretations of the poetry of Constantine P. Cavafy. From his recording debut in “Simple Lessons in Political Economy” by Loukianos Kilaidonis to the era of the bouat music venues, and from his collaborations with Andreas Mikroutsikos, Maria Dimitriadi, and Vasilis Papakonstantinou to the golden years of radio broadcasting, the conversation offered a rich portrait of one of Greece’s most distinctive interpreters.
