“Phaethon” by Dimitris Dimitriadis on “Take Your Time” | 20 Feb. 2026

Actors Dimitris Voutsis and actress–singer Katerina Kentrou joined the studio of Voice of Greece to discuss with Prokopis Agelopoulos the play “Phaethon” by Dimitris Dimitriadis.

Directed by Chrysa Kapsouli and presented by the theatre group Bonaventura, the production—although written 20 years ago—remains strikingly relevant due to its themes and symbolism. It addresses patriarchy, abuse and complicity.

Reversing the ancient myth, “Phaethon” does not fall to the earth in flames but ascends with the chariot of the Sun into the sky. According to the director’s interpretation, the living room where the action unfolds is transformed into a battlefield between good and evil; between the oppressor and the oppressed; between submission and defiance.
