“Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos | 15 Nov. 2024

On the 51st anniversary of the Polytechnic Uprising and the bloody suppression of the 1973 events, the Friday, November 15, 2024 episode of Take Your Time was largely dedicated to this significant historical moment.
This was one of the main topics discussed with our studio guest, journalist and director of the Greek Service of the Australian SBS, Themis Kallos, who traveled to Greece for a short vacation and shared his experiences, especially from his travels in central Greece.

In the second hour of the show, following Ivana Djordjevic’s international news segment, we spoke with Mr. Kostas Mantaios, a member of the Association of Political Prisoners and Exiles from the Resistance of the 1967-1974 period. He vividly recalled the events of the time and, visibly moved, shared his personal experiences with his comrades and the harsh moments they endured in the detention cells of Bouboulina, including isolation and torture.

Immediately after, the director Martha Bouziouri was our guest in the studio. She is staging the play Cyanide Potassium by Friedrich Wolf at the Piraeus Municipal Theatre. The play, written 96 years ago, addresses the issue of women’s right to abortion. We discussed this difficult topic with Martha Bouziouri, which remains relevant today, as in many parts of the world, women’s access to healthcare services ensuring safe conditions for such medical procedures is still not guaranteed, and the legal rights over women’s bodies are increasingly challenged.
