At the opening of the European Shortsea Network Conference, Charalampos Simantonis, President of the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association, emphasized that the sector he represents is one of the most sustainable and safest available modes of cargo transportation.
He also clearly outlined the challenges currently faced by the European shortsea shipping industry.
Speaking on the program “Fair Winds and Following Seas”, he stressed that “we must understand and incorporate transport multimodality in Greece as well, where the index remains at low levels. Combined transport of goods and products, ships, trains, logistics, and so on, must operate in our country as it does in the rest of Europe.”
