After reviewing the front pages of the newspapers and the major news portals, we spoke with Professor Panagiotis Ioakeimidis, Emeritus at the University of Athens, former ambassador and adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about developments in Ukraine, Europe’s preparation for war, and Greece’s position on the new diplomatic map shaped by the eastern front.
In the second hour of the programme, we focused on a major social issue: the social inclusion of Roma communities, on the occasion of the Roma Political School, organised by the Council of Europe in November and December at Panteion University in Athens. Our guest in the studio was Alexandra Karagianni, a Human Rights lawyer, who spoke about the content of the course at Panteion University and the programmes that need to be implemented for the social inclusion of Roma living on the margins, as well as about her own personal experiences growing up as a Roma child in Aigaleo and the prejudice she faced at school. As she noted, millions of euros from European Union funding programmes for Roma communities are lost every year, as there is no political will to make use of them.
