Speaking about the work of the 2nd Greek Youth Diaspora Symposium, which concludes on Friday, 28 November, the General Secretary for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, Maira Myrogianni, joined the program “Take Your Time” from the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Centre. There, young Greeks of the 2nd and 3rd generation from 30 countries are meeting this year to share their concerns, their aspirations, and their vision for the future.
A central goal of the Symposium is for these young people to continue serving as ambassadors of Greek culture in the countries where they live, helping strengthen the bonds between the global Greek Diaspora and the homeland.
Ms. Myrogianni discussed the Symposium’s purpose, outlining the goals set by last year’s participants, the achievements they delivered over the past year as ambassadors of Hellenism, and the new priorities emerging from this year’s gathering.
She also highlighted the issues the young delegates raise directly with the Greek state—representing their communities on matters such as Greek-language education abroad and the ongoing effort to reverse the brain drain that peaked during the years of the financial crisis.
