Nantina Tsekeri, human rights lawyer, Director of DCI Greece, and Vice President of the European Child Friendly Justice Network, was hosted today in the studio of the “Take Your Time” with Prokopis Angelopoulos, on the occasion of the 4th Annual Conference of the Defence for Children International Greece network, titled “Bridging Child Protection and Child Justice Systems”, which will take place on October 23 & 24 at the Intercontinental Athens.
The conference focuses on four main pillars:
• Strengthening child protection through better service coordination, interdisciplinary cooperation, and adequate resources
• Promoting child-centered interventions that avoid punitive approaches and harmful practices
• Ensuring continuous care during critical transitions, such as the move from childhood to adulthood
• Addressing complex issues that involve increased risk of rights violations, from digital abuse and domestic violence, to cross-border cases, family conflicts, and situations involving children with incarcerated parents
In parallel, on Thursday, October 23, at the Bellos Theater, a unique cultural event will take place as part of the innovative program “Justice Starts with Us – Justice Transformers”, implemented by DCI Greece in recent years in collaboration with the CFJ EN, of which it holds the Vice Presidency.
This year, under the artistic direction of director Aikaterini Papageorgiou, young people who have had contact with the justice system as minors transform into Justice Transformers, presenting an original theatrical intervention that expresses their personal experiences and voices. The script is developed and curated by Christos Tsoukalas.
