Guest on the program “The Sweet Life” was Michalis Boutaris, who spoke about the initiative of the Yiannis Boutaris Foundation to establish the first Wine Library in Greece, located in Naoussa.
As he explained, the Library aims to offer educational programs and provide a practical solution for the preservation of valuable archives that are often neglected — thus contributing to the safeguarding of Greece’s cultural heritage. The space will feature rare wine publications, archival material, and objects, mainly from the personal collections of Yiannis Boutaris and Stavroula Kourakou.
A digitized catalogue of the Library’s books and documents already exists.
“Our goal,” said Michalis Boutaris, “is that within a year, BIVON will hold over 200,000 digitized items, all accessible to the public.”
The first Wine Library of Greece will officially open its doors in Naoussa on 09 November, marking one year since the passing of Kyr Yiannis.
