Kostas Spiliadis, one of the most emblematic ambassadors of Greek gastronomy and culture worldwide, was the first guest on “The Sweet Life” on Friday, 8 August. He spoke about his acquaintance with Mikis Theodorakis, his initiative to include Theodorakis’ symphonic works in two landmark concerts in Montreal in the coming days, the current activities of the Greek community in Canada, as well as the building of a global empire that brought Greek cuisine to international prominence. He talked about fish that carry the scent of the Aegean, about the aesthetics and ethics of the Greek table, and about everything carried within by a man who never cut ties with his roots.
Also joining the program in the Voice of Greece studio was sommelier Giovanna Lykou – this time in her role as a tour guide – who spoke about the rich gastronomy of Skyros and the celebration of the 15th of August on the “Lady of the Sporades.”
Finally, fifth-generation winemaker Vangelis Gavallas gave us an inside look at the harvest on the unique island of Santorini.
On the microphones: Nikos Ioannidis and Natasa Vissarionos.
