The program was largely dedicated to the Melitzazz Festival, which celebrated 13 years since its launch. Guests in the studio from the team behind the Festival in Leonidio were Sofi Moutafi and Christos Chrysanthopoulos, who told us about this year’s diverse festival, themed around “Communities.” The festival brought together the people of the region with its history, dialect, and land, as well as, of course, the event’s “protagonist” — the Tsakonian eggplant, from which the festival takes its name. The conversation was also joined by phone by the Mayor of South Kynouria, Mr. Manolis Dolianitis. The program was accompanied by music featuring several outstanding arrangements of the unique Tsakonian dance and the characteristic song “Sou ’pa mana.”
Also joining us in the studio was Dimitrios Bakoulas, head of a traditional dairy business in Marathon, whose story spans more than half a century. He shared memories of ice cream with the audience, as well as many secrets on how to recognize quality in this beloved refreshing treat.
