“Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos | 06 Mar. 2026

In the Friday, 06 March 2026 edition of the program, we connected with London to meet another Greek who became part of the country’s brain drain during the years of the economic crisis. Joining us by phone was Olga Giannopoulou, a teacher based in London who works in an English secondary school, teaching mathematics and English to students with learning difficulties. She studied biology and has also taught natural sciences, while at the same time working as a photographer, mainly focusing on travel and events. Having travelled to around 50 countries, she enjoys discovering new places and experiences. Ms Giannopoulou spoke about her life in the United Kingdom, the post-Brexit era, and her relationship with the British education system and its students.

Immediately afterwards, we spoke by phone with Rea Peimani, Secretary General of the Association of Iranians in Greece, who described the threats she has received in recent days for speaking in the media against the Iranian regime. She also discussed her family’s decision to leave Iran nearly two decades ago to escape the regime and persecution, the hopes among young Iranians that the ongoing war could lead to the fall of the regime, and what the following day might look like with a government that respects democratic freedoms and the free will of its citizens. She expressed the view that Reza Pahlavi could lead Iran during a transitional period.

In the second part of the program, before the international news bulletin, Walid Elias, Voice of Greece analyst on Middle Eastern affairs, joined us in the studio to discuss developments on the region’s war front and possible scenarios in the coming period. The second hour began with Thanasis Houpis, journalist at Voice of Greece, who spoke about the status of the British bases in Cyprus and the role of Turkey in the ongoing war.

The final part of the program was dedicated to theatre. We welcomed to the studio Panos Apostolopoulos, director, and Marios Kritikopoulos, director and actor, members of the creative team behind the stage production based on the play “The Mute Bell” by Thanasis Triaridis, presented by the RODEZ theatre group every Monday and Tuesday at 21:30 at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
