“The Sweet Life” with Nikos Ioannidis and Natasa Vissarionos | 16 Jan. 2026

On this episode of “The Sweet Life”, the discussion opened on wine tourism, while the program also took a walk through the largest wild olive forest in the Mediterranean.

Can a winery be transformed into a living organism of culture? Can Romeiko, a grape variety from Chania, stand on equal footing in an international environment? Winemaker Evi Douraki came from Crete to the studio of Voice of Greece and gave us the answers.

Also joining us in the studio was Vivi Markomichelaki, heir and manager of the largest wild olive forest in the Mediterranean, which stretches along the shores of Lake Volvi. She spoke about a unique superfood: olive oil produced from the wild, indigenous olive tree.

In addition, Antheia Kotsi talked about the special event “Wine Meets the Art of Pastry”, while oenologist Anestis Chaitidis appeared in a different role, discussing the tribute events dedicated to Nikos Kavvadias, taking place in Drama (17 January) and Thessaloniki (18 January).
