Zefi Daraki was born in Athens, where she still resides. Poet Vyron Leontaris was her life partner. Her son is the director Giannis Leontaris. Her works include: “Blockage”, “Garden of Burns”, “Eclipse”, “The Wind and the Clocks”, “Midnight Wolf”, “Indefinite Events”, “The Hanging Woman”, “The Sacred Void” “, “Ungrateful Me: I fell asleep”, “Sorrow burns our shadows”, “The body without passkey”, “The motionless in pain”, “The other time”, “I name you, means, I loose you”, “Devastation”. etc.
Also, the novellas “Martha Solger”, “The dreameress”, “The Lonely Phantom of Lena Olem-Thalia” and “To paichnidi na oneirevesai”, poetry for children. Her poetry has been published in Greek and foreign language magazines. Her poems have been translated into major European languages. She has been honored with the “Dido Sotiriou” prize of the Hellenic Authors’ Society for her entire body of work, the Kostas and Eleni Ouranis Foundation prize of the Academy of Athens, the Greek State poetry prize in 2015 for her work “I spilia me ta beggalika” as well as the L. Porfyras prize of the Academy of Athens. While speaking of poetry, she has said: “The destiny of a poem is not to end, but to remain as a constant question. A forbidden fruit. A suspended leap… In any case, for the inconsolable human suffering, poetry remains a parallel loneliness”. |
