Giorgos Chouliaras is a poet, essayist, prose writer and translator.
In 2014 he was awarded by the Academy of Athens for his “alphabetical novel” Lexiko Anamniseon and for his entire body of work. His poetry in translation has been published in leading American journals and anthologies – the Harvard Review, The Iowa Review, Ploughshares, Poetry, World Literature Today and Modern European Poets – and in other countries such as Bulgaria, France, Japan, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania and Turkey.
Born in Thessaloniki, he mainly studied and worked in New York before returning to Athens from Dublin. He has worked as a university lecturer, consultant to cultural institutions, correspondent and press officer in embassies. He has been elected President of the Hellenic Authors’ Society.
