Poet of the Week 06/22/2020

Eftychia – Alexandra Loukidou was born in Munich. She comes from Istanbul and lives in Thessaloniki, where she studied at the School of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She teaches Creative Writing in Thessaloniki and Cyprus.

Along with poetry, she is involved in essay writing, with publications in various literary magazines and collective volumes.
She has published seven poetry collections:

“Lipimenes margarites’ (Egnatia publications, 1986), “To triptycho tou feggous” (1993), “En ti rymi tou nostou” (Armos publications, 1999), “N’ anthizoume os to tipota” (Kastaniotis publications, 2004), “Orofos meion ena” ( Kastaniotis publications, 2008, 2nd ed. 2009), “To epidorpio” (Kedros publications, 2012, 3rd ed. 2013), “Aforeta Thavmata” (Kedros publications, 2017).
It is noted that her poetry collection “To epidorpio” was nominated for the Greek State Poetry Prize.
She has also published the following studies:
“En Anamoni” (Contributing to the collective volume “Akroatis Orizonton, Proseggiseis stin poiisi tou Oresti Alexaki”), ( Gavriilidis publications, 2004), “Syrraptiki tou Prosopou: Episkepsi stin poiisi tou Oresti Alexaki” (Neos Astrolavos / Efthyni publications, 2012), “Peran tis grafis: Essays on poetry”( Kedros publications, 2015), “Stous piso kipous mias lexis” critical essays, (Romi publications, 2020).
Her poems have been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Albanian, and Bulgarian, and are included in Greek and foreign anthologies. She is a member of the Hellenic Authors’ Society, the Society of Authors of Thessaloniki, where she served as Secretary General, and the Poets’ Circle.
