“Moving Worlds”: Agrafa – Seven residents, a thousand reasons to stay | 19 Oct. 2026

On Monday, 19 October 2026, “Moving Worlds”, hosted by journalist Katerina Batzaki, traveled to Agrafa, a region of wild beauty, rich history, and people determined to keep its mountain villages alive.

The program’s guest was Vasiliki Koimtzidou, a young woman who left city life behind to settle permanently in Petrilo, in the Argithea area of Thessaly’s Agrafa mountains—a village where, one winter, just seven permanent residents remained.

Through her personal story, the conversation explored the courage it takes to make a change, solitude and freedom, the challenges of everyday life in the mountains, a connection with nature, and efforts to build a sustainable livelihood through ecotourism, agritourism, and local production.

The discussion also raised a crucial question: Can Greece’s rural villages find new life and a future? What role can young people, infrastructure, and low-impact development play in their revival?

A journey beyond the beauty of the landscape, exploring personal choices, resilience, and the search for a different quality of life.

Because sometimes the greatest journey is not moving somewhere new, but daring to change your life.
