n Dimitsana, history does not stay within the pages of books. It walks the cobbled streets, opens the doors of old mansions and meets the present.
In the first part of “Moving Worlds”’ tribute to Dimitsana on ERT’s Voice of Greece, Katerina Batzaki took listeners to the heart of Gortynia through the stories of people who know the area intimately.
Konstantinos Lambrou, president of the Dimitsana Conference and Cultural Center, discussed the village’s historical and cultural identity and his connection to his birthplace. He also spoke about Dimitsana today, a village opening its doors to the world, welcoming young people from different countries to discuss and study philosophy.
Panagiotis Koustenis, who has nearly three decades of experience in hospitality, described a different way to discover a place: by taking part in local life, joining the grape harvest, tending olive groves and vegetable gardens, walking the trails and sharing meals. This approach to hospitality offers more than a room; it offers a small place in Dimitsana’s daily life.
Father Christos Kyriakopoulos also joined the program, introducing the musical memory and traditions of Gortynia.
