What drives us to seek adventure where the trails get rough? And how can a bicycle reveal a side of Greece we never see from the highway?
On Monday, 26 October 2026, journalist Katerina Batzaki explored the fascinating world of mountain biking on “Moving Worlds,” on ERT’s Voice of Greece.
Joining her by phone was Ioakeim Georgiou, co-founder of Hardtailers Mountainbike Adventures, a group of three friends from Thessaloniki who turned their love of cycling and nature into organized mountain adventures.
From Mount Grammos and Mount Smolikas to the Prespa Lakes, Valia Kalda, Tzoumerka, and Agrafa, Georgiou spoke about challenging rides, physical and mental endurance, the strength of companionship, and the joy of discovery.
The conversation also focused on the people who continue to make their lives in remote mountain villages, the importance of responsible alternative tourism, and Greece’s potential to become an international mountain biking destination.
