Spyros Katsimis was born in Corfu in 1933. He studied law at the University of Athens and worked as a journalist for Athenian newspapers, magazines, and the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, ERT. He has published fifteen books of poetry, two short story collections, and a compilation of interviews. His poetic career began in 1955 with the collection “O Narkissos”. He has worked as an associate in the following magazines: “Epitheorisi Technis”, “Nea Estia”, “Nea Poreia”, “Dokimi”, “Porfyras”, “Entefktirio”, “Grammata kai Technes”, “Planodion”, “I Lexi”, “To Dentro”, “Sima”, “Mandragoras”, “Grafi”, “Figos”, “Korali”, etc.Part of his work has been included in Greek and foreign anthologies and has been translated into English, French, German, and Polish. He was a member of the editorial board of the Corfu magazine “To Proto Skali” (1954-1956) and responsible for the weekly cultural program “Art and Culture” (1987-1991) on ERT’s television channel ET1. He is a member of the Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA) and the Association of Greek Writers (EEL). In recent years, he has been drawn to painting. |
