Stamatis Polenakis was born in Athens in 1970. He studied film directing in Athens and attended courses in Spanish literature and culture at the Complutense University in Madrid. He has published six poetry collections. His poems have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Catalan. His theatrical monologue “To teleftaio oneiro tis Emily Dickinson” was translated into Romanian and presented on a Romanian radio program. For his latest poetry collection “Ta triantafylla tis Mercedes” (publ. Mikri Arktos, 2016) he was honored with the poetry prize of the magazine Anagnostis, in 2016; in 2017 he received the Greek state poetry prize (shared). |
