| Anastasis Vistonitis was born in Komotini in 1952. Since 1970 he has published twelve books of poetry, six prose books, five volumes of essays and a book of translations of Chinese poet Li He. He has published numerous articles, essays, travel texts and critical reviews. Since 1991, he has been an editor of the newspaper To Vima. He was a member of the staff team that drafted the Athens’ Candidature File for the 2004 Olympic Games. From 1996 to 2001 he was a member of the Board of the European Writers’ Council, and from 2003 to 2008 he served as its Vice President. His poems, essays and prose have been translated into twenty languages. Five books of his poetry have been published in English, German, Macedonian, Slovenian and Hebrew, and one prose book in Serbian. In December 2018, Kastaniotis Publications released his complete poetic works in one volume, entitled Poiimata 1971 – 2008. |
