Thomas Tsalapatis was born in Athens in 1984. He studied at the Department of Theater Studies at the Athens School of Philosophy. In 2011 he published his first poetry collection, “To Ximeroma Einai Sfagi Kyrie Krak” (publ. Ekati) which was awarded the Greek State Prize for Emerging Writer (2012). In 2015, “Alba”, his second poetry collection, was published (publ. Ekati). In 2017, “Alba” was translated by Nicole Chaperon in French and published by Editions Desmos. In 2018 he was awarded the first prize in the poetry category of the Premio InediTO at the Colline di Torino Festival for his poetic section “Peristatika” (Circostanze). In the same year “To Ximeroma Einai Sfagi Kyrie Krak” was published in Italy by Editore XY.IT Publications, translated by Viviana Sebastio. His third poetry collection titled “Geografies ton Frits kai ton Lang” was published in 2018 by Ekati Publications. In 2016, he wrote the dialogue for the theater production “Ankor”, which was staged that same year at the Attis Theatre, directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos. The dialogue for the production were published in 2017 by “Mov Skiourios” publications under the title “Pnigmos”. In 2018, his play “I Monica Vitti Den Thymatai Pia” was first performed in narrative form at the Maison de la Poésie in Paris, directed by Laurence Campet and translated by Clio Mavroeidakos. “I Monica Vitti Den Thymatai Pia” was staged at 104 Theater, directed by Nicole Dimitrakopoulou, while the dialogue for the production was published by “Mov Skiouros” publishing house, in the same year.His poems have been translated into English, French, Italian, Spanish and Arabic. They have been included in anthologies both in Greece and abroad. He writes articles for the newspaper “Efimerida ton Syntakton”, the newspaper “Epochi” as well as other print and online magazines.
